Abstract:
We develop time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (Tr-ARPES) systems to directly visualize ultrafast electron dynamics by resolving transient electronic states simultaneously in energy, momentum, and time. The operational Tr-ARPES system has already opened a direct window into femtosecond electronic processes in solid-state materials, from excited-state population dynamics and ultrafast electron scattering to photoinduced gap melting. Equipped with an HHG-based EUV probe and OPA pump source, the system provides the broad photon-energy coverage and femtosecond time resolution. Building on this foundation, the TPS 30A Tr-ARPES platform will further expand the reach of ultrafast electron-dynamics studies through enhanced photon flux and circularly polarized femtosecond EUV pulses. These advances allow direct visualization of valley-, orbital-, and symmetry-dependent electronic dynamics in novel quantum materials, offering new insight into nonequilibrium phenomena in condensed matter systems.
