Abstract:
The recent upgrades at the SPring‑8 Taiwan Beamline BL12B2 substantially enhance both optical performance and
scientific capability in preparation for SPring-8-II. The collimating mirror (CM) now incorporates three differently coated
regions, improving beam stability and energy flexibility, while the focusing mirror (FM) has been expanded from a single
monochromatic coating to multiple coated areas supporting white, pink, and monochromatic beam modes. The upgraded
optical system extends its operational energy range from below 27 keV to approximately 35 keV and additionally provides a
high‑energy operating point at 66 keV, enabling scattering and diffraction experiments with a high‑energy beam previously
inaccessible at BL12B2. On the experimental side, the newly constructed dispersive XAS station enables rapid
time‑resolved measurements, and the upgraded PXM and XAS systems significantly improve spatial resolution and
detection sensitivity. The enhanced XRD station, now integrated with total scattering PDF capabilities, supports advanced
structural investigations of crystalline, nanostructured, and disordered materials. Collectively, these developments position
BL12B2 for expanded applications in energy materials, catalysis, environmental science, and in‑situ/operando studies,
thereby strengthening its scientific impact 1-3.
