Organized by the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC), the annual Users’ Meeting and Workshops is one of Taiwan’s most important events in the field of synchrotron radiation research. Each year, the meeting features approximately 250 poster presentations and attracts more than 400 attendees for scientific exchange and collaboration. The 32nd NSRRC Users’ Meeting and Workshops will be held from August 25–27, 2026. On behalf of the NSRRC Users’ Executive Committee, we sincerely invite you to participate and share your latest research works. In addition to scientific talks and poster presentations, the three-day program will feature a variety of professional and social networking activities, offering participants valuable opportunities to discuss research ideas and foster future collaborations.

  • Mini-Workshops:
  1. High-Efficiency Planning for Powder Diffraction and Total Scattering - Comparing TPS 19A/20A and TLS 01C2 with User Proposal Triage
    The NSRRC powder diffraction team currently operates the TLS 01C2, TPS 19A, and TPS 20A beamlines. With the commissioning of TPS 20A and the gradual decommissioning of TLS 01C2, this mini-workshop will introduce the applications of various powder diffraction techniques and the functional roles of each experimental station. The session aims to help users select the most suitable facility according to their research needs, thereby ensuring optimal data quality and research efficiency.
  1. Time-Resolved Scattering and Spectroscopy Techniques
    Driven by advances in ultrafast lasers and synchrotron light sources, exploring the transient dynamics of emerging materials has become a promising research frontier. This mini-workshop will focus on the latest breakthroughs and applications in time-resolved scattering and spectroscopy. Topics include the recent developments of TPS time-resolved beamlines, highlights of synchrotron-based time-resolved research, and cutting-edge studies of crystal dynamics using advanced laser technologies.
  1. Applications and Development of High-Resolution Spectroscopy - TPS 47A HERFD-XAS/XES and HAXPES Technical Workshop
    This workshop will focus on the newly developed high-resolution beamline and spectroscopy endstations at NSRRC, featuring complementary high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy techniques, including HERFD-XAS/XES and HAXPES. The program will introduce the beamline design, and key technical features, while experts in related fields will discuss the applications and future development of HERFD-XAS/XES and HAXPES in green-energy materials, catalytic systems, and next-generation semiconductors.

 

Day 3 | Thursday, August 27

Three workshops will be held in parallel.

Workshop I: Empowering XAFS with XES, Modulated Excitation, and Machine Learning: Multimodal Spectroscopy for Catalysis and Materials Dynamics

This workshop focuses on integrating complementary techniques—including X-ray Emission Spectroscopy (XES), modulated excitation, and machine learning—to enhance XAFS studies of dynamic materials and catalytic systems. By bringing together experts in advanced spectroscopy and operando/in situ methods, the workshop will explore the latest developments and applications in multimodal spectroscopy research.

 

Workshop II: Next-Generation Ion Battery TechnologiesHigh-Power, High-Energy Density, and Industrial Challenges

This workshop focuses on recent advances in next-generation ion battery technologies, including high-power and high-energy-density materials, electrochemical mechanisms, and industrial challenges in support of the energy transition. The program will also highlight the role of synchrotron radiation techniques in battery material characterization and energy-related research, aiming to bridge academic research and industrial needs while fostering future collaborations.

 

Workshop III: Opening New Frontiers in Total Scattering: The Pair Distribution Function (PDF) facility at NSRRC and Future Directions

Following a three-year upgrade for SPring-8-II, Taiwan Beamline BL12B2 at SPring-8 is nearing completion of its instrumentation overhaul, establishing a versatile platform for powder diffraction, total scattering, and XAS-based multi-length-scale structural studies. This workshop will focus on Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis and its integration with beamline’s established XRD and XAS capabilities for studies of crystalline, disordered, and nanostructured materials. International experts will also discuss advanced methodologies, collaborative opportunities and future scientific directions of BL12B2 in the SPring-8-II era.
